I started practicing yoga in 1998. I received my Hatha yoga teacher certification from the Avalon Teacher Training program in May 2010 where I mentored with Anirudh Shastri, a very well known Hatha yoga teacher in the Bay Area. I also studied extensively with Ben Thomas, a senior Iyengar yoga teacher, before he retired in 2009. At the completion of my TT Program at Avalon, I also received a certificate of completion of the Iyengar-Thomas module. In the fall of 2010 I participated in the "Niroga boot camp," a training course for yoga teachers interested in teaching for teens at risk and underserved population.
The yoga I teach is dynamic yet gentle and respectful of the natural differences of each individual. Through the practice of yoga I try to stimulate you increase awareness of your body, your breath, and, eventually, your thoughts and emotions.
As the Hatha Yoga Pradipika says, a teacher (Guru) is the one who "shows you the way." I try to be that teacher, without forgetting, and always reminding you, that the best Guru resides within yourself.
I firmly believe yoga is a discipline that can help anybody improve their quality of life. I hope through practice you'll come to believe this too.
